Publication Ethics

The Journal of Advances in Computational and Intelligent Systems (ACIS) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. The journal follows internationally recognized ethical guidelines to ensure integrity, transparency, and academic excellence in the publication process. The following principles apply to authors, reviewers, and editors involved in ACIS.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting to ACIS must adhere to the following ethical standards:

  • Originality & Plagiarism: Submitted manuscripts must be original, and all sources must be properly cited. Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.
  • Authorship & Contributions: All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research. Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, or misrepresentation of contributions is not allowed.
  • Data Integrity & Fabrication: Authors must present accurate and reliable research data. Data fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of results is unethical.
  • Multiple & Redundant Submissions: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals at the same time or submit previously published work.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research must be disclosed.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment must be given for funding, institutional support, and prior research.
  • Corrections & Retractions: If errors are discovered in a published article, authors must promptly notify the editorial team for corrections or retractions.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of ACIS. They must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared with others.
  • Objectivity & Fairness: Reviews should be objective, constructive, and free from personal bias.
  • Plagiarism & Misconduct Reporting: Reviewers should report any suspected plagiarism, unethical research practices, or conflicts of interest to the editorial team.
  • Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their evaluations within the agreed-upon timeframe. If unable to do so, they should inform the editor immediately.
  • Conflicts of Interest: If a reviewer has any conflicts of interest with the manuscript’s authors, they must decline the review.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and ethical publication process:

  • Fair Decision-Making: Manuscripts are evaluated based on scholarly merit, free from bias regarding the authors’ race, gender, ethnicity, or institutional affiliation.
  • Confidentiality: Editors must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  • Handling Misconduct: The editorial board will investigate any ethical concerns, such as plagiarism, conflicts of interest, or data falsification, following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
  • Conflict of Interest Management: Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling submissions where conflicts exist.

4. Plagiarism and Misconduct Policy

  • ACIS follows strict anti-plagiarism policies and uses plagiarism detection software before publication.
  • Any manuscript found to contain plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsified results will be immediately rejected or retracted.
  • Authors with ethical violations may face a publication ban from ACIS.

5. Retraction Policy

ACIS reserves the right to retract published articles if:

  • Evidence of plagiarism, falsification, or unethical research practices is found.
  • Significant errors affect the validity of the study.
  • Authors fail to disclose conflicts of interest or ethical breaches.

6. Compliance with COPE Guidelines

ACIS follows the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure responsible publication practices. Any ethical issues will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
